The Making of Panacea.
A story on gentleness
Opening Scene :
Starting off I was unsure of how to go about finding the storyline for Panacea, the script was calling for elaborate expressions which I did not know how it would translate into film.
My goal was to find a simple concept and run with it. In the video, the painting I was working on, ended up adding value to the overall concept. I also was nervous as to how the filming would be done with limited equipment but an exciting challenge, none the less.
So off I went, charged up my phone, packed up all the art supplies and drove to a local park, where I was able to set up shop. Once I was all set up, it was easy to get into the flow of things and despite it being windy and slowly drumming up an audience, everything became part of the experience.
The emotions poured into the painting focused heavily on some of the dreadful experiences from last year both personal and societal as well as from joyful dinner experiences with friends. The dinners represented by each matchstick that was struck at dinner on different occasions were strategically placed on the canvas and binding them with the wax drops from the candle representing the sorrows of last year, which as the painting was coming together, I slowly reflected on the message to convey on the film.
